Ferryloupers Trophy
FISH HARD TO FIND IN FERRYLOUPERS CUP ON HARRAY
Mid week saw 23 anglers fish the rescheduled Ferryloupers Cup, postponed from a couple of weeks ago. The water quality was still excellent, a moderate breeze from the SE, and some cloud, what more could you ask for, a perfect fishing night, but nobody told the trout who just didn’t turn up!
The boats were well spread out for this one, with as many south of the Ess Holms as north of them, Ballarat, Nistaben and Biggings being most popular. Not many were out in the wide blue yonder with sinking lines, with most anglers preferring the shores and skerries.
Winner on the night was Stewy Leslie with 6 cracking fish, which went 6lb 11ozs, and also completed his collection with the nights heaviest fish, a belter at 1lb 8 1/4ozs. Others who had success included Jimmy Grant with 6 for 5lb 10ozs, Colin Sutherland with 7 for 5lb 3ozs and Phillipe Avril with 4 for 4lb 1oz. For many anglers it was a dour night, with fish lost and many undersized returned. The Ferryloupers Cup is awarded to the team, Locals or Ferryloupers, with the highest average aggregate, which is yet to be confirmed.
Stewy fished an intermediate line and a mixture of hedgehogs, with Fiery Brown Merky Midas and Munchkin scoring, other flies mentioned at the site debrief included red hog, McPhails Sedgehog, and Pumpkin.

It’s back to Boardhouse on Sunday for the second of the “draw for partners”, competitions, an improvement in sport would be most welcome.

Ferryloupers Trophy update
We have confirmation of the result of the Ferryloupers Trophy, with the foreigners taking the win! The numbers were, Locals had 14 fishing, aggregate 38lb 1/2oz, averaging 2lb 11 1/2oz, whereas the Ferryloupers had 8 fishing, aggregate 22lb 5 3/4ozs, averaging2lb 12 3/4ozs, so the French Connection, Phillipe Avril, takes the trophy home.
There’s a break of a fortnight now, when we are back at Boardhouse again, hopefully it’ll keep its form until then.
