Winter Fly-Tying Classes 2007
The OTFA fly tying evenings took place, over the winter months, in the
Kirkwall town hall. The informal programme kicked off in October, on wedensday
evenings, with lessons for the complete beginner and progressed gradually
through to local favourites and the “Must have” patterns for
2008.
Added into the evenings a small band of regulars were treated to demonstrations
in Norski Lads and Merkister Maids from Malcolm Russell. Black cats and
Snatchers from Erlend Hutchison. Suspender buzzers and traditionals from
Andrew Morgan then nymphs from Tony Butcher.
After the fur and feathers had settled a box fill of hedgehogs , muddlers, palmers and a few “secrets” should be a good basis for this coming season . Thanks to all who attended and Brian Thomas , Anderw Morgan and James Bews for running the classes.
